Visit to the Indian Museum, Kolkata

32 students of the fashion design department (batch 2023-2025) sem 3,(batch 2024-25) sem 1 & (batch 2024-26) sem 1 along with 2 faculty members visited The Indian Museum, Kolkata. on 28 November and 03 December 2024.

This excursion aimed to expose the students to the cultural and artistic heritage of India, inspiring creativity and broadening their understanding of historical influences on modern design.

The students explored various galleries, focusing on those that showcased textiles, traditional attire, and artistic elements relevant to fashion. The collection of ancient sculptures, intricate carvings, and paintings provided valuable insights into the craftsmanship and aesthetic sensibilities of different eras. One of the key highlights was the Textile and Costume section, where students observed traditional fabrics, embroidery styles, and dyeing techniques that have been integral to Indian fashion history. The visit to the Art and Archaeology sections also offered inspiration through the motifs, patterns, and designs found in historical artifacts.

The students engaged actively, taking notes on design elements that could be integrated into contemporary fashion. They also participated in discussions on how heritage influences modern design practices, fostering an appreciation for sustainable and culturally rooted fashion.
